Get your carpentry license.
You frame walls, hang doors and build decks. A carpentry license lets you quote and sign these jobs yourself. We arrange the Certificate III and prepare your application.

- What NSW asks for
- Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30326, or an older version like CPC30220)
What the license lets you do.
On day rates, the builder sets your hours and your pay. With your own license, you can price a deck for the owner and keep the profit.
What it covers, on the regulator’s own page
- Sign home carpentry jobs over $5,000 in your own name.
- Frame walls and roofs, fit stairs, doors and windows, and lay floors.
- Build decks, pergolas and awnings, with the footings under them.

Questions people ask us.
Something else on your mind?
Ask us on WhatsAppDo I need a license for small jobs?
You need one for home carpentry worth more than $5,000 in labour and materials, including GST. Not sure what a job is worth? Ask us before you quote it.
Can it lead to a builder license?
Yes. NSW accepts a Certificate IV in Building and Construction plus a carpentry license in place of the Diploma. You still need two years of wide building work under a licensed builder.
Does carpentry from overseas count?
Your overseas jobs can count as evidence for the Australian Certificate III. NSW won’t give a license on an overseas qualification alone. Bring the records you have.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
Both depend on how much of the Certificate III your work already covers. The free check gives you the full cost and a timeframe.
I work in another state. Can you help?
Yes. Carpentry rules change from state to state. If you hold a carpentry license in another state, ask us about mutual recognition in NSW.
